CITI X HARLEM EATUP FESTIVAL
Harlem EatUp! is a premier food festival co-founded by Chef Marcus Samuelsson in 2015. It celebrates Harlem's diverse culture with "Dine in Harlem" dinners and a weekend "Stroll" featuring culinary demos and local cuisine.
We developed a visual language to highlight Harlem’s vibrant culture and tie it into Citi’s main campaign, “Progress Makers.”
To enhance the EatUp! experience, we illustrated a visual history of Harlem in the shape of a map. With illustrations by James Gulliver Hancock, we aimed to educate festival visitors about the rich history of this neighborhood beyond its culinary one.
Using entertaining illustrated elements, the visual history featured iconic parts of Harlem's musical, cultural, fashion, and artistic heritage, encouraging visitors to discover and experience more of the neighborhood.
We also developed illustrated recipes from iconic Harlem Eatup restaurants. The simple-to-follow illustrated recipes were the perfect way to further share the flavors of Harlem with the rest of New York and the world.
